history

The only reason for having a role in the supply chain is adding value.

If not, that role is cut out by online market transparancy.

The building materials market is, in many ways, still organised the way other industries were 40 years ago.

Think back to when Amazon first started as an online bookstore. At the time, Barnes & Noble—the largest bookstore chain—dismissed it, believing their added value could never be threatened by an online platform. Within just a few years, the market shifted dramatically, and their position collapsed.

It’s a clear example of how quickly established models can be disrupted when a more efficient system emerges.

Since than other sectors followed; food, retail, fashion but also B2B platforms organising logistics for sea transport, Amazon Business, Alibaba, AirBnB, Uber and many more.

However; not the market for building materials

The most efficient logistics model is based on keeping the supply chain as short as possible.

In our case, this means collecting building materials directly from the source—the manufacturer—and delivering them straight to the end user.

This approach creates a direct link between ordering and transport.

In the construction industry, this naturally supports larger consolidated orders and phased deliveries aligned with project progress.

To enable this, we developed Qonstruct—an ordering platform fully integrated with the Q-Platform. It simplifies the process for all parties, reduces costs, and ensures that ordering and delivery are fully aligned with actual project demand.

not only our clients

Reach our clients at the exact moment they are making purchasing decisions.

(and plan deliveries trough the Q-Platform)

Our user base ranges from large construction companies such as BAM, Dura Vermeer, Züblin/Strabag, and VolkerWessels to smaller contractors and subcontractors.

In addition, Qonstruct users include independent purchasers searching for building materials who may not yet be active users of the Q-Platform.

Smaller order volumes are never an issue. We manage the entire logistics process from start to finish, ensuring a seamless experience for every customer.

All of these users choose Qonstruct because it enables them to procure building materials more efficiently and at more competitive prices.

start selling directly to the enduser

As explained earlier, the most efficient approach to logistics is the shortest route: directly from the manufacturer to the construction site. It is the smartest solution economically, environmentally, and spatially.

By selling directly to the end user, non-value-adding intermediaries within the supply chain are eliminated. This avoids unnecessary logistics costs associated with transporting and warehousing products multiple times.

It also removes the margins traditionally absorbed by these intermediaries, such as agents, distributors, and, most importantly, wholesalers.

By cutting out unnecessary costs and inefficiencies, more value remains where it belongs: with the manufacturers and the contractors delivering the project.

The construction supply chain is evolving. By selling directly to end users, manufacturers can increase margins, strengthen customer relationships, and improve efficiency—without sacrificing control over logistics, credit management, or existing partnerships.

There are no longer any compelling reasons not to start selling directly to end users.

like:

no reasons not to

"We don't want to sell smaller quantities."

This is no longer a valid concern. Qonstruct consolidates shipments and manages the entire logistics process on your behalf. Smaller orders become easier to handle, while logistics costs can often be reduced compared to traditional distribution models.

"Wholesalers provide technical advice to our customers."

In practice, this is increasingly no longer the case. Even wholesalers frequently refer customers directly to manufacturers for product expertise and technical support. After all, no one knows the product better than the manufacturer itself.

"We rely on the credit checks and financial arrangements provided by wholesalers,

distributors, and agents."

Qonstruct can automatically perform credit checks on purchasers and provide insights based on experiences shared by other suppliers using the platform. This helps you make informed decisions while maintaining control over your commercial relationships.

"We cannot risk losing business from our existing wholesalers."

Qonstruct recognises the importance of existing distribution relationships. Our platform includes settings that allow you to protect and manage these accounts according to your commercial strategy. If this is a concern, please ask us about the available options. To date, no wholesaler has raised objections to this approach.

The concept is simple:

by eliminating unnecessary logistics costs and the margins taken by intermediaries, manufacturers can improve their own margins.

Even if you decide to increase your margin, the end user's purchase price can still be lower than in the traditional supply chain model.

In other words, everyone benefits—except the wholesaler, distributor, or agent whose role no longer adds sufficient value.

In fact, this direct-to-customer approach is already common practice in many industries. The construction sector is one of the few sectors where this transformation is only just beginning.

On Qonstruct, your products are presented to customers at a purchase price excluding logistics costs. The final logistics costs depend on factors such as the delivery location, the need for partial deliveries, and on-site delivery requirements.

However, this is not your concern. You sell at a higher margin, while your customers buy at a lower overall cost.

And one final thought: your competitors may already be taking advantage of this opportunity.

When selling on Qonstruct, you can -of course- keep selling through the traditional channels.

We offer the opportunity to have your own "online shop" with just your products on your own website.

When clients purchase on your webshop they are for the logistics rerouted to the Q-Platfrom for arranging delivery so that is all arranged.

No extra work in keeping your database up to date, its the same database as we have on Qonstruct; but just your own products.

Already have your online webshop? We can connect both.
