Qonnected Presents Smart Construction Logistics to Major Municipalities

Yesterday, Qonnected presented its approach to smart construction logistics at the Startup in Residence Intergov Demo Day in Eindhoven. The audience included policymakers and representatives of the municipalities of Eindhoven and The Hague, as well as the provinces of South Holland, Limburg and North Brabant. The presentation sparked strong interest in aligning municipal requirements for construction traffic with the logistics planning of building projects.

Inner-city construction projects receive materials from many different suppliers. Without coordinated planning, this can lead to additional vehicle movements, delays at the construction site and disruption across the city. Qonnected’s Q-Platform connects contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, transport providers and construction hubs. Materials can be consolidated into construction packages and delivered to site when they are needed.

Qonnected’s calculations show what this approach could achieve: up to 73% fewer construction logistics vehicle movements in the city, a 40% reduction in CO₂ emissions and up to 50% lower logistics costs. Actual results depend on the project and its logistics arrangements.

In Eindhoven, Qonnected is working with the municipality to make better use of existing construction hub infrastructure. This work is also leading to collaboration with several construction companies active in the region, allowing the logistics approach to be tailored to specific projects.

The Demo Day generated strong interest in taking this approach forward with other municipalities. Qonnected plans to discuss with policymakers and municipal BLVC teams in major cities how permits and exemptions can be better aligned with construction project schedules and the logistics needed to deliver them. Coordinating approved routes, delivery windows and site access early in the process can make construction deliveries more efficient while reducing disruption in the city.

Is your municipality or construction company involved in a large-scale inner-city project? Qonnected would welcome a conversation about a logistics approach that works for both the construction site and the city.
